Because your privacy is important, this privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their personally identifiable information is being used.  Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your personally identifiable information in accordance with our website.

What information is being collected?

Except as detailed below, we do not actively collect information from you that you do not provide voluntarily.  Through the Barton Springs Conservancy website, we can collect anonymous and personal information pursuant for use pursuant to this Privacy Policy.  Anonymous information may include automatically-collected website usage information (such as a user’s visit history) which does not have any practical connection to your identity, while personal information can only be collected when offered by you, the user, on a voluntary basis.  Every attempt has been made to store this information safely and securely on our private servers and/or third-party servers (e.g. the “Cloud,” etc.).  Therefore, you can visit and navigate the Barton Springs Conservancy website without revealing any identifiable details unless you choose to do so.

When ordering, registering, communicating, donating, or otherwise using certain site features on our site, as appropriate through various forms and mechanism on our website, you may be asked to enter personal information, such as your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information or other details.  Personal information can also be provided by you in the comments section of our blog and digital RSVPs to events.  Offered voluntarily by user, the personal data may include:

Personal data may be retained in perpetuity at our discretion unless we are notified by you to remove personal information from our archive. In such a case, we would remove all traces of data except when prevented by law, for example, for tax reporting purposes.

Email

The Barton Springs Conservancy manages a number of email lists through Constant Contact to facilitate the distribution of our monthly newsletter and other communications.  Barton Springs Conservancy patrons can subscribe to the newsletter to keep informed on news and events in the organization. These email lists are protected by mechanisms employed on the Constant Contact platform. If you are currently registered to receive a newsletter from the Barton Springs Conservancy but wish to terminate your subscription for any reason, you can unsubscribe here or with an “unsubscribe” link in the email message.

Email addresses are also collected through general email correspondence and donations. Unless otherwise directed by you, these email addresses may be added to our general email distribution lists or otherwise stored in our email platform software and other databases.

Who can access this information?

Pursuant to our Privacy Policy, the personal information and anonymous data collected through our website is accessible by membership, communications, IT and direct managerial staff and contractors, and may be compiled and distributed for use by the Barton Springs Conservancy Board of Directors, staff, and contractors.

Will this information be shared with external parties?

The Barton Springs Conservancy does not sell, trade, rent or distribute to external parties the personal information we collect. Additionally, we do not sell, trade or rent anonymous data; however, we may distribute information such as website usage statistics to third parties for consideration for sponsorship and/or funding.

How is this information protected?

The information we collect is protected by a number of safeguards:

Restriction of staff/contractor access to personal information and databases

The Barton Springs Conservancy reserves the right to modify and/or update this Privacy Policy at any time.
